3:00 p.m. – curatorial tour of the exhibition "Ways of Seeing. Collection of Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź"
ms2, Ogrodowa 19 St.
We invite you to the first guided tour of the new permanent exhibition, which focuses on the phenomenon of seeing – both as a biological function and as a cultural and political act. Divided into several thematic chapters, it presents art as a tool of inquiry, posing questions about how and why we look. Among the issues explored are: the relationship between vision and memory, the social contexts of looking, perception as a form of knowledge and a tool of resistance, as well as questions of identity, corporeality, and the sensorial experience of reality.
5:00 p.m. – performance by Ewa Zarzycka at the Kamienica Hilarego Majewskiego
Kamienica Hilarego Majewskiego, Włókiennicza 11 St.
Ewa Zarzycka graduated from the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Wrocław in 1978, lives in Lublin and occasionally in Kazimierz Dolny. Her performances are unique narratives about art. They consist of reflections on the creation of art, including inquiries into the attitudes of artists, their doubts, and decisions. They are a kind of mental journey through the space between art and everyday life, permeated by a fascination with the process of reflection on art. The artist is the recipient of the 2024 Katarzyna Kobro Award.
The event will take place at the Kamienica Hilarego Majewskiego at 11 Włókiennicza St.
6:30 p.m. – presentation of the Katarzyna Kobro Award 2025
ms2, Ogrodowa 19 St.
The Katarzyna Kobro Award honors people who, like its namesake, are in constant search of answers to evolving questions and are forever negotiating art’s role in society. Every year, a jury of artists awards outstanding achievement in the visual arts in their broadest definition, particularly appreciating experimental and exploratory attitudes. The idea of this social, grass-roots award draws from the tradition of artists’ solidarity, which is at the very heart of the Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź.
7:30 p.m. – concert: Gary Gwadera
ms2, Ogrodowa 19 St.
Gary Gwadera is a solo project of Piotr Gwadera – composer, improviser, drummer and anthropologist - dreamer from the city of Łódź in Poland. Known for his versatility and unique artistic voice, Gwadera effortlessly adds surprising character to any musical context, whether it’s rock, punk, electronic, experiment, jazz or free improvisation.
