Suzanne Treister

Suzanne Treister (b. 1958, London) has been a pioneer of digital art, new media, and net art. Throughout her body of work, Treister reveals relationships between technology, global surveillance networks, power, science and mysticism. She proposes alternative visions and interpretations of the histories that have shaped our society but that we are only now beginning to fully comprehend.  A central focus of the artist’s work is the issue of saving the world for future generations. Exploring alternative belief systems, building grassroots communities, and creating alternative worlds are just a few of the strategies Treister employs in pursuit of this goal.

Treister studied at St Martin’s School of Art, London (1978-1981) and Chelsea College of Art and Design, London (1981-1982) and currently lives and works in London.
