Project information: Digital Sharing of Resources of Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź - continuation

The Muzeum Sztuki's responsibility for its collections entails the continuous updating of its technical and IT infrastructure. The incredibly rapid technical, technological, and civilizational progress, particularly in information and communication technologies, necessitates the constant adaptation of the infrastructure of entities providing online cultural resources to the changing reality. Therefore, through the "Digital Sharing of Resources of Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź - continuation" project, the Museum is investing in the latest technical and organizational solutions in this field.

The specific goals of the project include:

Digitization of museum resources
Expansion of IT infrastructure
System modernization
Creation of the MUZA MSŁ mobile application
Resource sharing
Education and promotion

The project aims to achieve the following socio-economic outcomes:

Increasing access to resources for diverse audiences, regardless of their place of residence and the limitations or needs of these individuals
Protecting cultural heritage through digital representations
Strengthening education and research through access to new materials
Developing cultural tourism and supporting entrepreneurship in the cultural sector
Digitization of 1,110 objects (including 1,050 works of modern art, 25 3D objects, and 35 RTI objects)
Digitization of 170 library materials and the provision of 2,000 documents (records) containing public sector information (metadata about works)
Making digitized resources available on a new, modernized portal (MSŁ Online Portal 2.0)
Increasing the number of document downloads/views

The most important results of these activities include:

Increasing the accessibility of cultural resources to users worldwide, regardless of location, limitations, and needs
Protecting cultural heritage through permanent digital archiving
Facilitating interaction with cultural heritage through the modern functionalities of the MSŁ 2.0 portal and integration with national systems
Supporting education and research by providing access to unique materials for students, researchers, artists, and the general public, including those with diverse needs

The planned IT activities will result in the development of digital services and tools at the Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź. This goal focuses on creating modern technological solutions that support access to cultural resources and improve their management. This project involves implementing an integrated web portal, a mobile application, and other advanced digital tools that will become the foundation for a new level of quality in the museum's digital operations.

A key element of this goal is the development and launch of the MSŁ 2.0 portal, which will combine the functionality of existing systems with modern solutions tailored to the needs of a broad audience. This portal will serve as a virtual museum, providing access to digitized works of art, archival documents, educational and scientific materials. Implementing a responsive design will ensure full accessibility of the platform on various devices, such as computers, tablets, and smartphones, significantly increasing its usability.

An integral part of the system will be a mobile application with an interface enabling MSŁ employees to manage digitized data. The modern digital tools that will be implemented also include advanced data management and processing solutions. Systems such as MUZA will be integrated with the portal and other digital repositories, allowing for more efficient management of digitized collections. The use of API technology will enable system interoperability and data exchange with national and international platforms such as KRONIK@. This will make museum resources more accessible to cultural, educational, and research institutions. Additionally, the introduction of features tailored to the needs of people with disabilities, such as audio descriptions and Polish Sign Language (PJM) interpretations, will increase the accessibility of museum offerings.

Achieving this goal will not only streamline the Museum's internal processes but also strengthen its position as an innovative institution open to the needs of the modern world. Modern digital tools will increase interest in Polish culture and art, both nationally and internationally, creating new spaces for education, research, and collaboration in the cultural sector.
