Muzeum Sztuki Won Two Sybilla Awards

During the official award ceremony in Warsaw Muzeum Sztuki in Łodź received the Sybilla awards for Museum Event of the Year: the educational TV programme Kulturanek and the Sounding the Body Electric. Experiments in Art and Music in Eastern Europe 1957-1984 exhibition. Sybilla, the award of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, is given to the most valuable and innovative solutions in the field of museology.

Kulturanek is created by eight children – Cecylia, Helenka, Julia, Marysia, Antek, Janek, Wiktor and Wojtek – experts in contemporary art, meeting for the last four years at Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź for the department of Education-organised classes. Kulturanek is directed by Artur Frątczak, written by Leszek Karczewski, who also moderates the programme with Barbara Kaczorowska.

The Sounding the Body Electric. Experiments in Art and Music in Eastern Europe 1957-1984 was the first museum-based attempt of presenting the complex relationships between experimental music and visual arts in Eastern Europe since the 1950s. It was presented at Muzeum Sztuki from May to August 2012. Its curators were David Crowley and Daniel Muzyczuk.
