Lidia Czub, Family Ties, Laureate of the 42nd Wladyslaw Strzeminski Competition

Lidia Czub is a student of the Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz, awarded the Prize of the Museum of Art for her work Family Ties during the 42nd Wladyslaw Strzeminski Competition. The theme of the interactive installation is the body, intimacy and touch, which interests the artist in the context of the problem of social loneliness particularly acute in the years of the pandemic. The photographs and recordings used to create the installation depict the author's family, defined not by kinship, but as a group of people closest to her. Printed on variously shaped pillows, close-ups of fragments of human bodies normalize the corporeality often idealized in visual culture.

The artist encourages the viewer to touch the installation and stay in its area.
