Between Strzemiński and Kandinsky - conversation between Daniel Muzyczuk and Stephanie Weber

We will discuss what connects the Lenbachhaus and Muzeum Sztuki collections—avant-garde traditions, contemporary curatorial practices, and how art can be told today.

The meeting will be an opportunity to learn more about one of Germany's most interesting museums, its programs, its team, and its unique history.

The discussion accompanies the exhibition "Ways of Seeing. Collection of MMuzeum Sztuki in Łódź" thanks to the support of the Foundation for Polish-German Cooperation. The project involves a strategic partnership between Lenbachhaus and the Städtische Galerie in Munich on the new permanent exhibition of the Muzeum Sztuki "Ways of Seeing".

The study visit programme between the Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź and the Lenbachhaus in Munich is part of the Inspiring Culture program.

Daniel Muzyczuk - Director of the Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź, art critic, and curator. A graduate of art history, law, and social economics from Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, he has been associated with the Muzeum Sztuki since 2011, where he headed the Department of Modern Art from 2015. He has served as acting director of the Museum since July 2024.

Stephanie Weber - art historian and curator at Lenbachhaus in Munich. In her over the last few years, she has focused on the 1960s and 1970s and the intersection of making and meaning, or the political dimension of artistic process.

Task: Between Strzemiński and Kandinsky - study visits at Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź and Lenbachhaus in Munich as part of the Inspiring Culture 2025-2026 Program, implemented in cooperation with Lenbachhaus Munich and in cooperation with the Polish Institute in Düsseldorf.
