Workers leaving the workplace

The book Workers Leaving the Workplace has been written to in connection with the exhibition of the same title; the exhibition took place at Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź in 2010. The publication consists of texts written by Joanna Sokołowska, Diedrich Diederichsen, Maurizio Lazzarato and Jan Sowa. The themes they tackle concern the relations of modern art with contemporary transformations of production and labour from the perspective of sociology and philosophy.

The book includes a chapter titled „Artyści przy pracy” (Artists at Work”): Joanna Sokołowska, the exhibition’s curator, asked the artists who participated in the exhibition what the slogan “artist at work”, taken from a well-known work by Mladen Stilinović, meant to them. This part contains interviews with artists participating in the exhibition as well as their visual essays and texts related to the question asked by the curator. The authors of the submitted materials are Rafał Bujnowski, Roman Dziadkiewicz, Miklós Erhardt, Harun Farocki, Ivana Keser, Kristina Inčiūraitė, Piotr Jaros, Ali Kazma, Jean-Luc Moulène, Frédéric Moser & Philippe Schwinger, Peter Piller, Martha Rosler, Mika Rottenberg, Janek Simon, Škart, Mladen Stilinović, Mona Vătămanu & Florin Tudor, Ingo Vetter, Artur Żmijewski, Haegue Yang.
