Strzemiński the Moderniser - a few remarks on the - Łódź Functionalised - project. A lecture by Andrzej Szczerski
Part of the series “More or Less Strzemiński. Lectures and Seminars”.
The lecture will present Władysław Strzemiński’s project "Łódź Functionalised” published in 1947, suggesting a radical transformation of Łódź’s urban structure. The project will be discussed in the context of the development of the avant-garde urban planning in th eInter-War period, as well as the evolution of Strzemińśki’s views on architecture, defined by him as a framework for social transformation processes. "Łódź Functionalised” is a pretext to pose questions about the artist’s activities after the Second World War and his involvement in designing the modernisation processes that went beyond his artistic creation and were connected with architecture and design.
