Two projects of a combined value of more than 27 million PLN, which received funding under the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment, will enable Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź to acquire new functional space and refresh our old, already occupied buildings.
The first project will focus on the extension and rebuilding of the J building which forms a part of the main premises of the Museum in Więckowskiego 36. Due to its technical condition, the building, which currently fulfils limited economic functions, will be demolished to the level of existing window sills, then reconstructed and extended. It will receive complete technical infrastructure necessary for the upkeep storage facilities, studios and workshops. As a result, the Museum will acquire new space to store its collections. The total value of the project is 9,439,006.66 PLN.
The second project to be delivered under the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment will consist of regenerating the infrastructure of the Museum in buildings B and C that belong to the Museum’s principal place of business located on Więckowskiego 36. The amount of 17,623,896.61 PLN will be used to rebuild and extend these buildings, as well as to adjust them to the needs of the disabled. Upgraded facilities will enable to develop an offer meeting the latest standards expected nowadays of museums: there will be lifts, rooms designed for educational purposes that will also be used for events accompanying individual exhibitions; modernisation will include the library holding an outstanding collection of unique specialist writings.
Funding from the European Regional Development Fund amounts to PLN 6,577,249.31 and 12,242,057.01, respectively.
The project to rebuild the J building is co-funded by the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment for the years 2014-2020. It will run between 01.10.2016 – 30.06.2018.
The project to rebuild buildings B and C is co-funded by the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment for the years 2014-2020. It will run between 01.10.2016 – 30.09.2018.
