The aim of the discussion is to look at the work of Debora Vogel in the post-war perspective, as well as in the context of postmodern humanities. The discussion is to enable us to reflect on the extent to which Vogel's reflection is alive today, and on those aspects of it which are no longer applicable today.  It is also to see what remains of Vogel’s work from the historical context, how much the reconfiguration of her ideas means years later, and why is it worth being occupied with Debora Vogel today at all.

Debora Vogel (1900-1942) is a newly rediscovered avant-garde writer, critic and art theoretician. The exhibition deals with her relationship with avant-garde practitioners of the inter-war period, primarily in Poland, including the work of artists from the Lviv group called ‘’artes’’, the Cracow Group, and some individual artists, such as Leon Chwistek and Wadysław Strzemiński. Befriended by Bruno Schulz and Witkacy, Debora Vogel was not only an indefatigable propagator of new concepts of art, appreciated by artists and regarded as the author of the montage and,  especially, photo montage theories, but also the author of radical attempts to translate the visual avant-garde experience into the language of literature, written in Polish and Yiddish.

Joanna Bednarek is a philosopher and writer. Her area of ​​competence and interests lies at the intersection of post-structuralism, feminism, autonomist Marxism and literature. She is an author of such books as Polityka poza formą. Ontologiczne uwarunkowania poststrukturalistycznej filozofii polityki [Politics Outside of Form. Ontological Determinants of Poststructuralist Philosophy of Politics], (2012) or Linie kobiecości. Jak różnica płciowa przekształciła literaturę i filozofię? [Femininity Lines. How Gender Differences Have Transformed Literature and Philosophy], (2015). She has  published articles and essays in the magazines of "Nowa Krytyka" [New Critique], "Czas Kultury" [Time of Culture], "Krytyka Polityczna" [Political Critique] and  "FA-art".

Tomasz Majewski is an expert on culture and film, associated with the Department of Anthropology of Literature and Cultural Research at the Jagiellonian University of Cracow. He lectures on the history of animated film at the Film School in Lodz and on the history of culture at the University of Lodz. He is an author of the book called Dialektyczne feerie. Szkoła frankfurcka i kultura popularna [Dialectic Effusions. The Frankfurt School and Popular Culture], (2011). He is also an editor of the volumes Rekonfiguracje modernizmu. Nowoczesność i kultura popularna [Reconfiguration of Modernism. Modernity and Popular Culture], (2009), Pamięć Shoah  [Memory of Shoah], (2009) and Memory of the Shoah. Cultural Representations and Commemorative Practices, (2010). He has published articles and essays in "Kwartalnik Filmowy" [Film Quarterly], "Kultura współczesna" [Contemporary Culture], "Dialog" [The Dialogue] and "Teksty Drugie“ [The Second Texts].

Paweł Mościcki is a philosopher, essayist and translator, associate professor at the Institute of Literary Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He is a member of the editorial team of the quarterly "Widok. Teorie i praktyki kultury wizualnej” [The View. Theories and Practices of Visual Culture], and an editor of the volume entitled Maurice Blanchot. Literatura ekstremalna [Maurice Blanchot. Extreme Literature], (2007). He is also an author of the books: Polityka teatru. Eseje o sztuce angażującej [The Politics of Theatre. Essays on Engaging Art], (2008), Godard. Pasaże [Godard. Passages], (2010), Idea potencjalności. Możliwość filozofii według Giorgio Agambena [The Idea of ​​Potentiality. Possibility of Philosophy According to Giorgio Agamben], (2013), My też mamy już przeszłość. Guy Debord i historia jako pole bitwy [We Also Have the Past. Guy Debord and History as a Battlefield], (2015).

Karolina Szymaniak is a literary scholar, expert on culture studies, editor, translator, Yiddish language teacher in Poland and abroad, culture animator. She is an assistant professor at the Department of Jewish Studies of the University of Wroclaw and an author of the book Być agentem wiecznej idei. Przemiany przeglądów estetycznych Debory Vogel [To Be an Agent of the Eternal Idea. Transformations of Aesthetic Reviews of Debora Vogel], (2006). She has been an editor of such volumes as: Rachela Auerbach, Pisma z getta warszawskiego [Rachela Auerbach, Letters from the Warsaw Ghetto],  (2015) or Warszawska awangarda jidysz. Antologia [Warsaw Yiddish Avant-garde. Anthology], (2005). Her texts have appeared, among others, in the following magazines: "Midrasz" [Midrash], "Znak" [The Sign], "Teksty Drugie" [The Second Texts], "Tygodnik Powszechny" [The Popular Weekly].
