Michelangelo Antonioni and Jean-Luc Godard – and some other directors – are considered the originators of modernism in film. Speaking of books, which critically redefine both Antonioni and Godard’s place in the history of cinema and the language of film analysis and reflection on the cinema, we will come back to the fundamental question about relations between cinema and modernity.
Can we still think of modernity and contemporary times with the help of cinema? Does this conceptual effort lie on the side of films and their directors or viewers and the ways of perceiving them?
