We cordially invite you to a lecture by Professor Itzhak Goldberg entitled  Nahum Tevet in the Context of Art Installation  which accompanies the exhibition Nahum Tevet: Works on Glass, 1972-1975. The exhibition presents an important series in the works of the Israeli artist, referring to the broader artistic and historical context, including minimalism, which dominated the art world in the late 70s of the 20th century. Tevet’s works on glass blend in perfectly well with the experimental undertakings of the world’s most progressive artists of the time. Itzhak Goldberg’s lecture will focus on another important aspect of Nahum Tevet’s creative activity – installation. The author of the book  Installations (2014) comments on the relationship of the artist with minimalism, and discusses the visual tensions he achieves by combining used  and unused spaces. In his lecture, Professor Goldberg will highlight the relationship between installation understood as work of the international character and its specific form created by the Israeli artist from a kibbutz.

Itzhak Goldberg - is a professor of Art History at the University Jean Monnet in Saint-Etienne, France, and a member of Interdisciplinaire Centre d'Etudes et de Recherches sur l'Expression Contemporaine (CIEREC). He  is also an art critic, publishing in Journal des Arts, as well as an art curator and author of prominent publications. His latest book -  Installations (2014) presents a typology of installation against the events taking place in both  the European and American contemporary art scene. The author draws attention to the socio-political and ethical issues, situating them in relation to the functions of modern art in a contemporary society.

His academic work circulates around topics related to fine arts and aesthetics, with particular emphasis on portraiture. His main interests are such artistic trends as expressionism and abstractionism, as well as the art of the Middle East with its various aspects.
