Lecture within the framework of research project "Liaisons of Literature and Visual Arts after 1945".

Conceptual art questioned visual status of a work of art shifting the centre of gravity from the visualisation of an idea to its concise description. Signs used by Polish conceptual artists: arrangements of letters, numbers and punctuation marks, words, texts, symbols, graphs, „iconograms”, complex image-text  units, which help investigating the constitution of meanings outside of the restrictions of form.

Using signs, some conceptual artists enter the field of literature. They have also made literature a point of reference for their works by either incorporating excerpts from literary works into their productions or by developing their own literary narratives. During the lecture we will analyse literary references in the artworks of Edward Krasiński, Andrzej Dłużniewski, and Zbigniew Gostomski.
