Finisage of & Exhibition - Last Curatorial Tour and the Re: Rosas Performance!

The first Sunday of November is the last day of the exhibition ‘&’, inviting spectators to enter the world of a maze, built of déjà vu, subtle similarities, unobvious symmetries and unexpected discoveries. The exhibition featuring over 100 drawings by Wacław Szpakowski and a wide range of minimalist works by Cécile Dupaquier, Suzanne Treister's diagrams, Aneta Grzeszykowska's video work, Anna Orlikowska's models, Henry Morel's peculiar visions and François Morellet's screen prints, plays a game of differences and repetitions  enclosed in ten spaces  to present an aesthetic zone resembling a labyrinth. The Museum’s curator Thibaut de Ruyter will be the host of the day.

Touring the exhibition will be rounded off with an impressive performance called "Re: Rosas!” Over thirty years ago, a Belgian dancer and choreographer of contemporary dance Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker created choreography for her female dance team ‘Rosas’. The premiere performance, entitled "Rosas danst Rosas", took place on May 6, 1983. Since then, her choreography has been often borrowed and widely used by dancers all over the world, in manifold versions, configurations and settings.

Now it is our turn.

During the three-day workshop held by Iza Szostak, the participants will be preparing a show for the final presentation which will close the finale of the ‘&’ exhibition. The recording of the performance at the Muzeum Sztuki will then appear on the website "Re: Rosas!” adding to the collective compilation of almost four hundred reproductions and remixes (you can watch them here)

Thibaut de Ruyter - a french architect, curator and critic. He lives and works in berlin since 2001.
He has been a regular contributor to the magazines L'architecture d’aujourd’hui, Artpress, Il giornale dell'architettura, Particules, Fucking good art, Frieze d/e, has published texts in catalogues and edited two special issues of artpress, one about Berlin and another on art & prostitution.
He curated among others the exhibitions “Investigating evp” (Resonance fm, London 2006), “Weniger Geld, mehr Liebe” (Tmp-deluxe, Berlin 2008), “The Last Ten Shots” (Bongout, Berlin 2008), “Wach sind nur die Geister” (hmkv, Dortmund 2009 & coca, Torun 2010), “Nam June Paik Award 2010” (Museum Kunstpalast, Düsseldorf 2010) & “Nam June Paik Award 2012” (Kunstmuseum, Bochum 2012), “Ghosts off the Shelf” (Kunstraum Kreuzberg/Bethanien - ctm-festival, Berlin 2012), “The Empty House” (Museum Angewandte Kunst, Frankfurt/Main 2013), “INDUSTRIAL (research)” (hmkv, Dortmund 2013), “BER-DTM-HNL...” (hmkv, Dortmund 2014), “Richard Meier - ein Stilraum” (Museum Angewandte Kunst, Frankfurt/Main 2015), “Artificial Intelligence (Digitale Demenz)” (Eigen+art lab, Berlin 2015) and “(Art) Upside Down» (Aluan, Almaty 2015).
His latest projects are: a travelling exhibition for Goethe-Insitut in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, “Die Grenze” (Mmoma, Moscow 2017 - Artplay, Saint Petersburg 2017 and the Krasnoyarsk Museum Center, Krasnoyarsk 2017) and “A song for Europe”, an exhibition that was presented at the V&A, London 2017.
Since 2007, he is a member of the Aica-France.

Iza Szostak - dancer, choreographer. A graduate of the Ballet School in Warsaw and the Codarts / Rotterdam Dance Academy in the Netherlands. She did an internship in Belgium with Jan Fabre / Troubleyn. She is the author of such performances as: "RE // MIX- Merce Cunningham", "Body. Child. Object” ,"Europe. Investigation" and "Ballet of Coparism." In her choreographic practice, she refers to authentic movement, choreology and improvisation. She is interested in a prospect of new materialism that provides tools for perceiving matter as active and formative.  She creates systems of communication between a body and an object. Working on a basis of anthropological fieldwork,  Iza Szostak processes images taken from visual arts, films, her own memory, senses and biographies. She treats choreography as an instrument for creating a new order. In her works, Iza tests various strategies of embodiment, finding inspiration in, for example, the motility of a child, or the mechanics of construction machines, or texture of objects and tools in a carpenter's workshop. She is a co-founder of ‘Centrum w Ruchu’ (Centre in Motion).
