Artworks by Anna Bąk and Witek Gretzyngier in the ms2 windows
Projects by Anna Bąk and Witek Gretzyngier, presented in the ms2 windows in the neighborhood of Manufaktura, are available to viewers from December 22nd. The artworks, which are placed between the closed museum and the open shopping centre, not only use and thematise windows as an exhibition space, but also refer to the place’s character. The dialogue of artworks articulates tensions and hopes at the time of social crisis by juxtaposing the solitude of isolation with the community aspect of the public sphere.

Niektóre rzeczy przychodzą w pudełkach, inne falami (transl. Some things come in boxes, some in waves), 2020
photography, installation, courtesy of the artist
The artwork by Anna Bąk, inspired by the artist's interest in models and playing with scale, introduces a mysterious, improper element to the area of Manufaktura with its characteristic simple advertising messages. The illusory space, created in the window, is a box in which the artist put the model of an empty, battered sofa. It alludes to both lockdown and isolation, as well as to the progressive decay of the objects and places which surround us.

Siostry (transl. Sisters), 2020
graphic design, Augmented Reality filter, courtesy of the artist
The artwork by Witek Gretzyngier, which refers to folk cut-outs and curtains hung in windows, presents a community of figures; schematically outlined figures of social emancipation. The striped, rhythmic composition enters into a dialogue with the historical context of the industrial women’s workplace, as well as with its current advertising messages. The AR filter, which is available on Instagram, is a further extension of the artwork. It demonstrates a vision of an ephemeral, virtual monument to sisterhood and solidarity.
