Designs for Two Public Sculptures by Suzanne Treister Created for the city of Łódź
As part of the retrospective exhibition Suzanne Treister: Prophetic Dreaming, taking place from October 9, 2026, to March 15, 2027, at Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź, the artist has created two digital designs for sculptures intended for public space in Łódź. These artworks belong to a larger series of sculptures that could potentially materialise in cities around the world.
The first project is designed for the courtyard of Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź. The second sculpture is intended for the square in front of the Magda Department Store (Dom Handlowy Magda). In these works, the artist draws on the local ecosystem and mystical values, which symbolically seek to introduce an ethical dimension to the world system and contribute to the stabilization of the planetary ecosystem.
Among Suzanne Treister’s public sculpture projects is, among others, The Spaceships of Bordeaux (Les Vaisseaux de Bordeaux) (2013–2022), photographs and drawings of which are presented in the exhibition Suzanne Treister: Prophetic Dreaming. In 2025, the artist created AI Quantum Dreaming for her exhibition at Modern Art Oxford.
